Last night was the grand release party for the new DC X Nash Cadwell shoe (pictured above). You may remember my write up on the shoe a few weeks back…no? Read it here then. As amazing as the Cadwell is, and it really is, this post is about last nights party.
The Daily Street was in full attendance, as expected, popping corks and going wild. Joking. We kicked off the evening with some rather casual pre-drinks with the man himself, Nash, catching up with a few mates and making some new ones. Good work to the boys from DC who placed an ample amount of DCXNASH signs around the pub in Chancery Lane, otherwise we would have been truly lost. The place was like a maze! If you are ever in the area, I strongly recommend Cittie of Yorke. The pub had been kitted out nicely, with display boxes that framed the Cadwell, original design sketches by Nash and some of those rather too familiar perspex display boxes from Size?, which I thought was a wicked touch from them. There was also a couple of stacks of the new Size? paper for a bit of sneaker related light reading.
As the night got busier, the room got hotter and all the super cool outerwear had to come off. It seemed like they had timed this event perfectly, because just as I was beginning to get hungry, out came plates of chips and mini cottage pies, which were amazing. Hats off to the chef! And once again big up to DC for supplying a free bar with fine English ales & ciders. I’m guessing people hit the free bar quite hard last night, because I do have a rather strong memory of walking back into the room after a cigarette and feeling like I was inhaling evaporated cider – I could taste it in my mouth.
All in all, it was a very successful evening. Nash looked more than happy by the end of the night, along with all the guests, and isn’t that the point of these things? Shouts to Nick, who gave us our first ever “Are you the guys from The Daily Street?”, which was very flattering.
Check out Nash in his forthcoming colab tee between himself and Second Son…more news on that soon. There’s huge images of his infamous cross stitch at the bottom of the tee, but you can’t see that. He’s actually sporting a sample!
Head down to a Size store near you and look in awe at the DC x Nash Cadwell. If you’re brave, ask to try it on. But be warned, I am assured that they are incredibly comfortable and i’m pretty sure you won’t want to take them off!
