Yesterday was the infamous Crooked Tongues BBQ, a highlight in the UK sneaker heads calendar. Celebrating their 10th anniversary, it was pretty busy!
Anyone who is into kicks looks forward to the Crooked Tongues BBQ each year. This year was in a slightly different location to last year, with more of a club feel indoors. I’m not sure if the free Nandos was a good or bad idea … it was tasty as hell, but I think it may have attracted a few people who were only interested in free chicken, which was a shame. Us sneaker heads didn’t let that put us off having a good day though, as hundreds of bottles of free beer started to disappear and the conversation got flowing.
As it hit evening and people for some reason seemed to have got less caring about their precious kicks (I blame the booze), the DJ’s started rolling out the tunes and people got their skank on. Alexander Nut killed it with some heavyweight Dubstep and Grime from back in it’s glory era, whilst Cosmin TRG brought the house vibes to the party with some seriously good music. Everyone was waiting eagerly throughout the night for Rodigan, like children staying up to see Santa at Christmas.
All-in-all a successful party and a very good day out. I hope next year the BBQ itself returns to the party to replace Nandos … it may help keep away the flies, who clearly had no interest in Crooked Tongues whatsoever. Shame on you.
