asics are on a roll with the Gel Lyte III collaborations. We’ve seen the Sneaker Freaker (Alvin Purple), the SlamJam and those beautiful Ronni Fieg collaborations that unfortunately didn’t hit our shores. This time it’s Mita Sneakers who get the chance to get creative with the Gel Lyte III.
It’s a simple one on first looks, with what appears to just be an all black upper sitting on an off-white outsole. A closer inspection reveals where all the work has been done, with little details making this shoe that bit more intriguing than just a black/white make-up.
The upper combines premium leather and nylon, with the nylon area’s taking on a black leopard print which runs from the toe-box onto the split tongue, which has a special badge on it that says ‘Mita Sneakers Tokyo Ueno’. The standard Gel Lyte III features such as the branding on the heel and side panel are pressed and embroidered into the material, a nice subtle touch. Adding a twist to this simple colour-up is the full leopard print insole and the iced-out oustole that has ‘Far East’ underneath.
