Yuki Matsuda is best-known for his footwear brand, the infamous Yuketen, however in 1997 the Japanese designer also embarked on a journey to produce clothing with a heritage feel and a high quality construction; the brand Monitaly was born. With Monitaly being a combination of Monica (his daughter), military and Italy it is no surprise that with the military being one of Yuki’s loves, functionality will be at the forefront of the brand and this Parka is no exception. The Army Duck Mountain Parka will keep the elements at bay with its pretty heavy duty lining, two of which (Black and Khaki) are lined with tweed and the red Parka is lined with a sky blue wool.
As i’m sure you can tell i’m a sucker for pockets, i cant have enough of them and this Parka doesn’t disappoint with a total of 9. Two chest pockets, two tweed or wool lined double entry hip pockets, a vertical zip and bellows pocket on the rear with a further 3 more inside. Other features include a funnel hood, leather drawstring pulls and stoppers, cape vent shoulders, press stud cuffs and reinforced leather washer press studs.
Personally, i’m usually pretty unadventurous in my wardrobe when it comes to colour, but I love, I repeat LOVE the colourway on the red parka. I think the combination of sky blue, bright red, cream and the leather drawstrings pull the jacket together mixing traditional and contemporary in a way that seems somewhat freshly familiar.
All three parkas are available now from Coggles at £520 each.
