Carhartt x Vans Authentic (Moss & Light Stone)

This collaboration between Vans and Carhartt proves to be a solid combination, creating a durable version of the Authentic that brings two colour-ups which don’t disappoint.

Usually favoured in hotter months, the low profile of the Authentic proved to be a nice alternative to it’s older brother the Era, coming in light weight canvas that suited the summer vibe. This creative effort from Vans and Carharrt takes a left turn from the usual canvas application. Tough ripstop nylon and suede come together on the upper, it’s still a solid choice for those harsher weather conditions, though you wouldn’t want that suede to touch an inch of snow or rain. The colour carries on that winter feel, coming in the choice of moss or light stone, both a nice nod to Carharrt’s AW10 apparel line with its earthy tones.

Attention to detail is always a pleasure to see executed properly and there’s some of that here, taking this collaborative effort to the next level. You’ll find Carharrt branding on the tongue, on the footbed and carefully placed on the heel along with Vans’ classic logo. Flip the Vans tab on the side of the upper and yup, you’ve guessed it, ‘Carhartt’ is placed on the inside. The final touch is an energetic orange on the outsole which adds some serious ‘pop’, a great way to finish things up.

These will be dropping at Carharrt stores in January 2011.
