Those people over at Fred Perry Blank Canvas have had a stroke of genius and merged their infamous polo shirt with a classic 60’s cycle shirt. Not only have they done this, but they’ve created two different versions as well.
The first time I saw this small collection was when we were last in Berlin at the trade shows and I was more than impressed. I don’t know why, but simple things like this concept really excite me. Now I’m no cycling fanatic, but surely for those fixie kings out there this has to be a must-have item? There are two variations on offer, the Winter collar shirt with its small zipped rear pocket, which looks most like a classic cycling shirt due to its collar, and the ribbed collar shirt with a three buttoned large rear pocket. Both variations include a zipped down placket that is reminiscent of the recent Raf Simons collection, but executed much better in my opinion. Colourways are spot on, taking inspiration from fifty classic 60’s merino wool cycling shirts and creating some heavily inspired cycling colourways that pop.
All four shirts are available as of today from fredperry.com and Fred Perry Laurel Wreath stores where you will also find the 50 original cycling shirts on display.
