Continuing our Spotlight series, allow me to introduce the new waxed linen duffle coat from the SS11 Fred Perry Laurel Wreath collection…
When we first saw images of this duffle coat it was clear that this was one of those products that would only truly come to life when worn out and about. Simple product shots just don’t do this jacket justice and the more time we spent with it during this shoot, the more we all fell in love with the jacket and all it’s little details. Made from duralinen (most commonly found on Barbour jackets), this duffle is like a hybrid between a waxed linen jacket and your classic duffle, taking the materials and lightweight design of one and applying it to the styling of the other, making for a serious combo.
Lightweight and durable, this jacket is stealthy in it’s deep black appearance, shimmering as light bounces off it. Off-white rope, leather detailing, wooden toggles and black buttons make this jacket so stylish, especially when combined with the dull yellow colour of the inner and the golden wreath on the chest. A removable zip-hood makes this jacket a bit more flexible style-wise, but personally we preferred it on, allowing the collar to stand up underneath it.
All-in-all I cannot express how much of a success this duffle coat is, in both material selection, style and fit. Head into any good Fred Perry Laurel Wreath stockist and see for yourselves, or just take the plunge and order one from Fred Perry for £275.
