Stone Island often comes with a stigma attached, being seen as part of the football hooligan uniform since the days of the casuals in the ’80s. Whilst many tend to stick to that idea, it’s easy to forget that the Italian brand creates some incredible pieces with an extensive back catalogue of fabrics and actually draws its inspiration from naval-wear.
Spring/Summer 2011 sees the launch of the Stone Island Ghost Series, a collection based on camouflage and the use of a single colour per garment including all zips, fastenings and the iconic Stone Island badge. This is the first time the use of a single colour badge has been used, so these are definately going to be collectors items.
My favourite piece by far is the lightweight jacket all in white – when I first saw them in the flesh I was all over them, and I can assure you each and every single detail of these is white. When trying it on there is no mistaking that it would be a brilliant jacket for Spring, made entirely from Ventile, which although waterproof and windproof is extremely breathable allowing it to be worn in slightly warmer temperatures and seeing you through Spring for sure.
Remember though, Stone Island doesn’t come cheap, with the Ghost Jacket coming in at £695 from Stone Island.
