Catapult Records 001: CRST / Darkhouse Family

Our good friends in Cardiff, Catapult record store, have launched a record label. Introducing their first release; a double A-side from South-Wales collectives CRST and Darkhouse Family.

I’m a big fan of record stores having in-house labels, so it makes me very happy to see Cardiff’s finest record store doing exactly that. As far as first releases go, this is a strong one – a bass-heavy 2-step/UK Funky inspired bubbler from CRST (pictured above) with Darkhouse Family (pictured below) offering a deeper Garage inspired tune on the flip. In true record store style, this is vinyl only business, limited numbers, all hand stamped and just to make it even better, the release came out yesterday on National Record Shop Day.

Check out the tunes below and make sure you head over to Catapult to cop the release on wax and show your support.

Great to see a record shop making a stand and finding ways to stay relevant rather than letting them self get turned over by there own (unfortunately) outdated business model.

Cardiff is at a tipping point at the moment, not only is there a lot of talent, there is a feeling of unity which could be the key to success for everyone.
