King Apparel ‘Defy’ Starter Cap

Following on from their triple threat collection of caps as part of the Starter Black Label project, UK brand King Apparel present this new snapback cap, from their Defy range, on the famous Starter block. The cap is part of the first drop of the brand’s Spring/Summer collection for 2011 and gets things off to a good start.

I definitely can’t fault the construction – anyone who’s ever places a Starter upon their head knows they come with supreme quality and fit. The white Starter logo rests above the fastening, and a ‘King blue’ woven tag sits inside, both iconic signifiers in their own right. The front is a little more elaborate, featuring a dripping cloud in the brands ‘Defy’ colour combination, running down the front onto the peak. The ‘Defy’ range is a big part of King history, and the design has appeared in many a collection over the years, but as I said when the cap was previewed in the season lookbook, I’ve never been a huge fan, and feel it’s multi-colour approach doesn’t really do the brand any favours.

If you missed out on the first King Starter run, this could be your chance. Grab it now online from King Apparel for a shade off £25.
