Recap: Nike x Liberty Launch Party

Last week we strolled down to Liberty to witness the launch of the new Nike x Liberty footwear collection for this season.

It’s hard to go wrong with a Nike x Liberty collab, being one of my favourite brands working with one of my favourite stores. We’re all familiar with the Nike x Liberty concoctions of the past; super-limited and only available at very select accounts. This season the two brands have decided to switch it up a bit, not only making more kicks but making them more available as well (they will be in Office).

I gotta say, I was expecting something special for the launch but they went and outdid my expectations, turning a whole room on the second floor of Liberty into a Liberty-esque basketball shoe emporium. Gold basketball themed hanging baskets fill the room, displaying the shoes, whilst the centre piece of the room (stretching 3 floors) hosts a collection of gold and purple basketball nets in a chandelier layout, once again displaying the shoes. It’s Liberty luxury meets Nike and it works oh so well.

As for the event itself, it was the usual high-end affair with incredible food and swanky drinks being brought round on trays. My kinda party. A lot of heads in attendance meant that the footwear was on point with a few particular people busting Nike x Liberty patchwork Dunks from the 2009 collaboration. The tunes were flowing and everyone seemed happy, especially those who had small enough feet to be able to purchase the kicks before the public gets hold of them. I wish I could say that I fell into that elite category, but I don’t have size UK9 feet.

Possibly my favourite piece of the party had to be the Nike x Liberty rug that I only spotted at the end of the night. A rich Liberty purple rug with gold metal Nike branding? Yes please. And you know that there’s only one in existence.

Check the pics below and make sure you swing by Liberty next time you’re near the Carnaby area to see the room for yourself.
