asics are doing it for me this Summer, and these new renditions of their classic GT II runner are too fresh for words.
It seems like asics have nailed it with their colour pallets this season, producing stupidly fresh colourways that pop with colour without being to garish. For me, the GT II is one of their best shapes; as much as I love the Gel Lyte III with it’s lack of tongue, I seem to be more in favour of the asics models that have a tongue. There’s more of an OG running flavour to these.
The plentiful use of high quality synthetic mesh on the upper makes me more than happy, especially when teamed up with some nice suede and leather trims. Have a look at the detail shots below and you should fall in love with that Golden suede. At first sight I fell for the Grey/Blue colourway with its more subtle colour pallet and pops of Pink, however, the more I look at the Orange/White colourway, the more it pushes into the lead. The decider has to be the use of a coloured sole and crisp White laces – it’s just such a clean design.
Both colourways are available now from Crooked Tongues for a more than reasonable £65.
