Zillion x asics Gel Lyte III

Japanese shoelace brand Zillion team up with asics to get creative with a collaboration favourite, the Gel Lyte III. It’s a silhouette that’s been collaborated to death, asics’ very own AM1 if you will, with the likes of ALIFE and Solebox being at the forefront of bringing this classic running shoe back in to the eyes of sneaker fan boys and girls. However, it’s still always a pleasure to see a well executed make-up and this release is a fine example of that.

Zillion have managed to pull of a killer make-up here, with some very intriguing materials being used for a luxury feel. The toe box and side panel material is constructed of ‘Chirimen’ fabric, a fabric used for the production of ‘Kimino’, a traditional Japenese garment worn by men and women. A subtle touch of heritage and a nice link to Zillion’s routes. Soft leather is featured on the rest of the upper combining well with the Chirimen fabric. Final touches include Zillion laces packaged in a trademark elegant wooden box, wooden tags and Zillion’s brand logo sitting subtly on the heel.
