Ron English’s ‘Skin Deep’ exhibition opened this week at the Lazarides Gallery in London, and although I’ve yet to pay it a visit to check things out for myself, these images give us our first look inside the walls. A mixture of painting and sculpture, the gallery’s bright purple walls are eclipsed by the stunning colours of English’s art which appears to almost jump from the walls.
The gallery is filled with his trademark characters, from Fred Flintstone to Micky Mouse, with a few US Presidents thrown into the mix too. Each piece contains thousands of details, and you really have to get up close to find what’s hidden within, and really appreciate the pure skill of English’s hand – which is why I’ll be heading there myself this afternoon.
Skin Deep is open now until the 23d of July. For more information, click here.
