Oakley for oki-ni (Frogskin & Eyeshade)

oki-ni have been secretly planning with the folks at Oakley of late, and the end result is two incredible pairs of sunglasses using the iconic Frogskin and Eyeshade frames from Oakley.

It’s nice to see oki-ni returning to the world of collabs; I remember the days of the Adidas for oki-ni sneakers, which seems like forever ago. This new collaborative drop from Oakley and oki-ni manages to sum up both brands perfectly – you can look at either pair and see a very distinctive Oakley influence and an equally distinctive oki-ni influence. I must say that this particular pair of Frogskins has to be one of the best I’ve ever seen. I’m not usually a Frogskin fan, but the fade on these frames is a work of art. Classic and simple in looks, these are sure to be a timeless Frogskin frame, unlike some of the bolder colourways that Oakley bring out.

For me, the real highlight here is the Eyeshade frame. It looks as if someone has ripped the lens out of a pair of late 90’s Oakley ski-ing goggles and stuck them on a glasses frame, which is probably what happened in the design studio. Either way, these are stupidly dope. If you like your sunglasses with a healthy dose of character (which I do), then these are a great option for you. The unconventional nature of this frame and the fact that the lens covers the entirety of the wearers eyebrows gives them a distinct catwalk feel, almost making them more of a high-end choice. Not for the faint of heart.

Both pairs are available now exclusively from oki-ni for a very reasonable price of £100 a pair. With only 35 pairs of each frame, I strongly advise that you don’t sleep on this one!
