Tomorrow is a big day for me for many reasons, but a big part of that is because Thursday June 23rd will see the launch of a new exhibition of paintings by world-renowned artist Ron English, in London – a rare treat that I am more than excited to see for myself.
Ron’s work is the perfect example of weird and wonderful. Ranging from the deranged to the comical, it Ron appropriates various pop-culture icons, giving them his own unique twist. The new exhibition of paintings (his first in the UK) titled ‘Skin Deep: Post-Instinctual Afterthoughts On Psychological Portraiture’ features Marilyn Monroe, Mickey Mouse, Charlie Brown and The Rolling Stones, amongst others, in Ron English’s own brand of POPaganda.
I cannot wait to check this out, but if you can’t make it to London, expect to find some pictures on The Daily Street very soon. Following the opening night this Thursday, the exhibition will run from Friday June 24th until the 23rd of July, at the Lazarides Gallery on Rathbone Place (W1T 1HR). Check out a preview below, or more info head to Lazarides.
