Master Shortie has been absent from the scene for a while, after building up a decent amount of momentum a few years ago he announced through twitter that he’d be quitting the music industry for good, after some bitter experiences. However, I’m glad to say he’s back… and with a bang.
This track has a lot of meaning to it, showing the progression of Shortie both as an artist and as a human, as he progresses through his “three different looks” from typical untamed youth, to the quintessential “rocker” and finally after the process of maturation, he ends up with his own style. The video its self is shot incredibly well, with a cameo from Bluey Robinson briefly emphasising the UK links and a vibrant backdrop featuring a Weezy-esque depiction of lyrics, it’s a great effort from the Pigeonheadz founder.
I was apprehensive about the video, but it proved my judgements wrong, creating a sound footing for him to build on where he left off. The ‘Dead End‘ and former Odd One Out/Sony star will be dropping his first mixtape since 2009 named “Studying Abroad” soon, hosted by DJ Benzi. Stay updated at Master Shortie.
