Recap: Puma x size? Bluebird launch (Cardiff)

Last Friday evening, Puma came together with size? to launch the first re-issue of their Cardiff City FC inspired sneaker from ’82, the Bluebird.

Firstly, may I point out how nice it was to see this event happening in Cardiff, where it should have been thrown. It’s a brave move to throw a launch party for a fashion product outside of London, so props to both Puma and size? for staying true to the Bluebird and Cardiff. Located in the High Street Arcade, this pop-up shop isn’t terribly large, but it’s packed with plenty of Cardiff City FC memorabilia as well as both colourways of the Puma Bluebird and the clothing collection that goes with them. Decal’d windows in the royal blue that any Cardiff City fan will be familiar with keep the space feeling pro, and make it nice and noticeable.

The Puma Bluebird is a lightweight (and damn comfortable) running shoe from ’82 that managed to become a terrace classic in Cardiff due to it’s Blue/Yellow colourway and name sitting perfectly with Cardiff City FC’s kit and nickname. This OG re-issue sees the return of a British icon from Puma’s archives, and they’ve done a damn good job of it. In the pictures below you can actually compare the new pair to an OG pair.

As for the event itself, plenty of the local Cardiff scene elite were in attendance, with several key figures from the local size? store alongside a collection of Cardiff’s finest musical offerings such as the guys from C.R.S.T. and Lung to name a few. Attendance was on point – busy, but not unbearable, and of course the food and booze was flowing beautifully, making sure everyone was having a good time.

Both Bluebird colourways (home and away kit inspired) will be available exclusively from size? Cardiff (another great touch to this whole project) as of this Saturday (August 13th) and will be available online from size? as of August 20th. More detailed info on the sneaks and capsule collection to follow soon.
