Westfield to launch Westfield Stratford City

25 days from today, Westfield will open another shopping center in London, once again claiming the crown of Europe’s largest shopping center and this time covering 1.9 million sq. ft! Introducing Westfield Stratford City…

The idea being “A city within a city” shows just how huge Westfield like to think, and going by the images shown here this is going to be a monstrous shopping city within spitting distance of the Olympic Park. Conveniently timed for the Olympics, no? With over 300 stores, 70 dining options and a unique food market, this is quite an achievement for both London and the UK. Now I’m sure that most of us won’t be the exact target market for Westfield, but there are bound to be a decent selection of stores, cafés and restaurants that appeal to us within this huge complex, plus let’s face it … it’s going to be one hell of an experience. £1.45 billion worth of experience to be precise.

Oh, I forgot to mention that London’s favourite bowling alley All Star Lanes is opening it’s biggest venue to date in this shopping center as well, which is a true highlight as I’m sure anyone who has bowled there will agree. Add to that a 17 screen all-digital Vue cinema, London’s largest casino and champagne bar and this shopping center is sounding more like a party city. All that it’s missing now is Nintendo Town, to rival Sega World. That would have been the cherry on this huge cake.

Pretty crazy isn’t it? What are your thoughts on the expansion of Westfield in London? Whether you like the idea or not, you must admit that this is a huge development for London and one that will undoubtedly affect every Londoner as it pulls more people and shopping East, helping to shape the future of London. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below and maybe we’ll see you at the opening on Tuesday 13th September.
