Nike x Mighty Crown Dunk Hi (Black/Varsity Red)

For Fall ’11, Nike teams up with Tokyo’s very own sound system crew, Mighty Crown, for this special 20th Anniversary Dunk Hi.

This is a pretty toned down collaboration, which contrasts the party vibes Might Crown provide. Though relatively simple colour wise, the material choice and placement is where the party is really at with elephant print, a translucent outsole, midsole patterning, nubuck, lace jewels and psuedo-snake skin leather all constructing the shoe to great effect. It’s a mixed bag of materials but it all works with the use of black colour to create a composite look. The upper is contrasted nicely with the pattern found on the outsole and strong accents of red.

It’s a collaboration that would of fitted in perfectly 6-7 years ago, but it’s still a pleasure to see the Dunk utilised in this way today.
