REBEL8 x FSAS ‘The Big Takeover’ Collection

After weeks of continuous hype from both camps, this week, the UK finally got their first taste of the new collaborative collection from SF’s REBEL8 and LA’s Famous Stars and Straps, dubbed ‘The Big Takeover’. As you might expect, the collection see’s R8 artist and illustrative legend Mike Giant take free reign across all of the graphics, incorporating his work into T-shirts, snapbacks and a hefty varsity jacket.

The decision for REBEL8 to once again choose to collaborate with a brand that is in my eyes pretty ‘dead’, is a bit of a strange one, but perhaps Famous still has some value stateside. This collection is clearly R8 dominated, without many ties to FSAS, short of their ‘F’ logo which appears somewhere within most, if not all, designs. Highlights for me include the ‘Taking Names’ T-shirt, and the Big Takeover Varsity Jacket, similar to REBEL8’s Candlestick Varsity, which features a printed satin lining and numerous embroidered logos on both the chest and sleeves.

Props have to be given to the sheer size of the collection, which extends even further beyond the items you’ll see below – it’s clear a lot of work has gone into the collaboration, even if it does look like a tweaked R8 line. The collection is available in limited numbers from select stockists now, including The Chimp Store.
