For Jordan fans it’s that time of year again with what now seems like the annual release of an Air Jordan XI retro, this time it’s the holy grail Air Jordan XI ‘Concord’ that sees a long awaited reissue.
If you‘re wondering why these have so much hype behind them then you need a quick crash course in Air Jordan XI history. Worn by Michael Jordan in the 1996-1997 season, the XI (especially the Concord’s) represents MJ’s full come back season out of his first retirement and also the start of another NBA championship three-peat that propelled MJ to GOAT status in late the ’90s.
Rumours of these re-surfacing started around early January this year, with forums blowing up with rumours and news about this release. It’s been over a decade since the original Concord’s (the DMP Concord’s weren’t quite there) have had a reissue and patience has been running thin among Air Jordan fans. The 2011 retro does not disappoint and all of the original design elements are in place such as the patent leather, canvas upper and the translucent outsole that now has a touch of icey blue giving these a new edge that works. Concord purple is used on the bottom of the outsole and as with the past three AJ XI releases a special box is provided which keeps the shoes neatly packed, while providing an incredible finishing aesthetic touch.
These will be flying out of stores so don’t hesitate.
