British footwear specialists Grenson have created these Burrows Long Wing Brogues for British fashion house Heritage Research.
It’s always nice to see two respected British brands working together, but when I saw the names Grenson and Heritage Research in the same sentence, it’s fair to say I was a little more than excited. Two of my favourite brands at the moment, they both represent that modern take on traditional British fashion, but from slightly different view points. With Grenson’s long history spanning back to the 19th century, I was surprised to hear that this is actually the first time that they’ve made a long wing brogue. Either way, that just adds more of a special nature to the project as a whole.
Coming in two variations, this Burrows shoe is a traditional long wing brogue, sat on a sturdy Goodyear welted wooden and leather sole unit. Each shoe is bench made and features premium waxed calf leather on the upper, that will only look better and better with time. One pair features some contrast Nubuck on the upper, in a two-tone colourway for the more outrageous gentleman.
For me personally, there’s something wonderfully alluring about the deep blue leather found on the second pair. The contrast waxed leather laces pop, without being too statement, while that deep blue allows the varnished wood outsole to shine through. I can’t get enough of them. Collaborative branding on the leather in-sole signs off what is a great collaborative effort. Let’s hope we get to see this relationship flourish in the future.
Both pairs are available now from End Clothing for £385 a pair.
