Back in August last year, a new artist emerged on the scene with a remix of Amy Winehouse, causing quite a stir, attracting a lot of attention and being rumoured to be James Blake (one hell of a compliment). That artist is Ifan Dafydd and he’s the latest addition to our mixtape series.
With the release of “No Good / Miranda” on Push & Run, Ifan Dafydd firmly set himself in the UK dance scene and had a lot of eyes on him. His follow up of “Treehouse / To Me” drops on that very same label at the end of this month (Jan 30th) and is something a little different, but equally as impressive as his debut. You can hear “To Me” over at Pitchfork.
When an artist emerges out of nowhere, with this much talent, it’s very hard for us to ignore that. So, it makes complete sense to get them on our mixtape series, and I’m very happy to add Ifan Dafydd (pronounced ee-van da-vith) to the fold. Keeping things mysterious, as we would expect from an artist as shrouded in mystery as this, there is no track list accompanying this mix, nor is there any questions or answers. I’m told that there’s some unreleased bits from Ifan in here that are so exclusive they can’t even be named. Sounds good to me! What I can point out is that this mix is incredibly varied, and in the best way, including bits from Mosca, SBTRKT, a heap of incredible tunes from Ifan himself and what sounds like a remix of Eminem – ‘My Name Is’ by Ifan at the end? We can but guess who it’s by, but it’s amazing.
An incredibly smooth and creative mix that moves effortlessly through House, Techno and deep Dubstep.
