Gourmet Spring 2012 collection preview

Southern Californians Gourmet maintain their high calibre of releases as they give us an extensive preview of their 2012 Spring drop. The collection showcases a few models that previously weren’t too inspiring, but which have now been jazzed up and put back into the limelight, as well as old favourites, and a new exclusive collaboration.

The Sedici L is in my eyes the most improved, with an imported Italian suede camo print applied to the silhouette, transforming the shoe into stand-out piece. In the collection we see Nike SB’s Paul Rodrigez’s own brand Primitive team up with Gourmet on a Space Jam inspired Quadici, incorporating ballistic nylon and black patent leather. The images don’t give much away yet, but already the seductive ‘Primitive’ branding on the heel tab is getting us excited.

I thought the ‘scrub’ influenced Dignan model couldn’t get any better, but with polka dots and more patent leather thrown in, it creates another of Gourmets masterpieces this season. They’ve also kept the Cinque 2 in the collection but re-modeled it slightly, with leopard printed suede and new tennis-inspired outsole.

The new collection shows that the Gourmet trio are far from boring, highlighting their multi-dimensional aspects and ambition to constantly improve upon older models. Expect to see pieces filtering out to the likes of Cooshti, Crooked Tongues, and End Clothing soon.
