Oi Polloi x Clarks Originals Wallabees

Today sees the release of the Oi Polloi x Clarks Originals “Unicorn” Wallabees, coming in two colourways; Dijon and Wasabi.

The combination of Oi Polloi and Clarks Originals is too comfortable to be true – two very similar styles from two of the UK’s greats. This collaborative release sees the Oi Polloi family put a rather luxurious and entertaining spin on the classic Wallabee. Made from 100% ‘Unicorn leather’, they are in fact made from the finest elk hide (Unicorn leather is the name that the specialist tannery uses for specific elk hides). Only sourcing hides from animals that are killed as a result of normal culling procedures, the tannery works closely with local people in indigenous areas to source the raw materials. Kinda cool, no?

Available in two simplistic colourways, there is the classic looking Dijon, and for the slightly more adventurous there is the aptly named Wasabi. Both are incredibly soft and durable, as with all deer and antilope hides, and also feature natural scaring due to the animals being wild. Once sourced, the leather is aniline dyed and tumbled for twelve hours to bring out the colour and accent the natural differences in the leathers.

I love a god collab like this; a solid back story that results in a truly strong end product. It’s nice to see that neither party felt the need to go over-board with branding or making them excessively noticeable, keeping things simple and focusing on materials. A nice “Clarks Oi Polloi” logo can be found on the insole.

Both pairs are available from Oi Polloi now, in limited numbers, for £85 a pop.
