Detroit Boutique ‘Burn Rubber’ and New Balance are beginning to compile a vast collection of collaborations, with the new MT580 Workforce pack being the most recent addition to the family.
The Workforce name bears much relevance to both models in the pack, as the first to release, the MT580BC shown here, references the masons who forged the city (The Blue Collar), and the soon to follow MT580WC paying respect to the city dwellers who kept the wheels spinning (The White Collar)
The Blue Collar’s upper is constructed with the assortment of materials and colours you’d expect to see on the blander side of New Balance’s colour palette, presented in grey mesh and navy suede – with the pop from the white ‘N’ motif on the side, this is such a clean and subtle colourway, and I find myself not disappointed by the simple choice. The gum sole is a real highlight, and matching the laces it adds to the visual appeal of the shoes. As a final touch, each model incorporates Burn Rubber lace locks, swing tags, and the embroidered NB logo on the toe.
The historic nature and heritage of Detroit City is well portrayed through both models, and the background story only adds to the packs appeal. The Blue Collar will drop at Hanon on February 15th, with the White Collar following early March.
