Since it’s re-release last year the Nike Air Flow has received numerous alterations, including the Lunar Flow and it’s Hyperfuse sibling. The most recent transformation is this Quickstrike woven Lunar Flow.
The release comes with perfect timing, as people are already beginning to pull out other Wovens from their boxes, ready for the sunnier months. We’ve previously seen woven materials applied to Footscapes, Prestos and Chukkas (not forgetting the Air Woven itself), and they have all work perfectly. The Lunar Flow is one of the last shoes I’d expect to get the Woven treatment, but surprisingly, it looks really nice. Constant alterations to the iconic silhouette see the shoe looking less like it’s former self, however this time it’s no bad thing.
The Lunar Flow Woven is available in two colourways – Olive/Bamboo/Black and Anthracite/Bamboo/Black – both sitting nicely on the Lunarlon sole. Uppers consist of a suede base and a trio of coloured woven material beneath. The Olive colourway is a definite favorite for me – the orange lining that overflows onto the heel tab is exquisite, and contrasts against the rest of the colors beautifully. The over all aesthetic is very different to the original Air Flow, but one thing that has definitely been continued is the varied use of colour, with the shoe never failing to be vibrant and interesting.
I feel that the Air Flow has seen enough reiterations now, and can take a step back to let another classic runner take it’s place on the hybrid forefront – this is as good as it gets. Both colours are available from Foot Patrol now for £95.
