Primitive x Gourmet Quadici (Black/White)

In the hype surrounding the beastly leopard print 35s, this gem from Gourmet’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection seems to have gone relatively unnoticed. Inspired by arguably one of the most iconic sneakers of all time, Gourmet team up with P-Rod’s Primitive for this take on MJ’s Space Jams.

With the Quadici as the canvas, everything from the outsole up here is a clear nod to the Jordan brand classic, with transparent tread, black patent leather surround, and a ballistic nylon upper. Finished off with the blue pop of the top eyelet and Gourmet branding on the tongue, it’s a homage which importantly, doesn’t seem forced, with colours and materials blending nicely with the Quadici silhouette. As a finishing touch, Primitive branding appears on the heel, but otherwise things are left clean and simple.

The Quadici is definitely a ‘love it or hate it’ shoe, and this make up is likely to be treated with the same response. I am most definitely in love with what is, in my opinion, one of the better Space Jam re-interpritations, and will almost certainly be grabbing a pair myself.
