Tonight, the famous TEDx series of talk revolving around “ideas worth sharing” hits Brick Lane, with a unique focus on the role of the DJ.
TED talks are always interesting, ask anyone who knows of them and they will affirm this for you, so it’s nice to see one of the TEDx events being held in London and on such an interesting topic. With DJ culture booming in recent years (to such an extant that Simon Cowell is starting a DJ version of the X Factor. God save us), this evening of talks couldn’t be more relevant.
In true TED style, the topics of the talks and the speakers themselves are varied and each approach the subject in a very individual way, combining to make for a fascinating analysis of the DJ and the culture that surrounds them. Eight speakers will each discuss the rise of the DJ and their effect on culture, technology and consumer behaviours. Amongst the speakers are Tony Andrews (founder of Funktion One), Jerome Sydenham (resident DJ at Berghain), Dr. Karenza Moore (expert in illegal drug use) and Joe Muggs (Music journalist). A solid mix, I’m sure you will agree.
