UK music blog, come radio show, come podcasters Sonic Router have started a record label, opening with this EP from Torus on cassette.
There’s a wonderful madness to any release on cassette these days. It’s rarely seen, not exactly too easy to use, and brings back great memories of childhood. You could alost say it’s the vinyl of our generation. Sonic Router jump into the deep end of record label land, pressing up a limited edition run of 100 white cassettes with brilliant packaging.
As for the music contained on these cassettes, I guess the only way I can explain it is Electronica. It’s somewhere between Ambience, Wonky Hip-Hop, Mount Kimbie and James Blake. Whatever it is doesn’t matter, because it’s great music and a pleasure to listen to. The digital EP packs some extra goodies in the form of remixes from Slugabed and Dynooo.
Give the EP a listen below, and help support this new label who are trying to do something a little unique (and a little crazy if I may say so), like all good things are by buying a copy from their BandCamp.
