WTAPS ‘Better Than Yesterday’ Collection

Japanese brand WTAPS bring their functional formula to a new collection titled ‘Better Than Yesterday’, showcasing exactly the quality in design that Tetsu Nashiyama’s brand is capable of.

WTAPS has had a repertoire of styles and influences since first starting up in 1996, predominantly referencing military and workwear aesthetics, and their constant focus towards the functionality and durability of their products has been another element of huge importance throughout the brand’s existence, following along with their military philosophy, and embodied in all of their garments.

The collection itself caters to many tastes, including simple but elegant Oxford shirts, chinos, and smart logo pullover hoodies. The Sherpa Jacket is an ideal representation of the care given to quality and detail. The weatherproof nylon shell and branded taped seams, come together to create a piece that rivals some big names in technical outerwear. The Academy Jacket, is an obvious nod the brands military inspirations, employing a heavyweight premium cotton, similar to canvas, and featuring subtle branding printed on the breast, a theme running throughout the drop. The real eye-catcher is the Warmup Hoody, utilising velvet-like leopard print side panels contrasted against the black body – it’s a definite standout piece.

The prices are something we’ve come to expect from brands like WTAPS and their Japanese friends. It’s pricey, but when such high quality and care is evident in every garment, it’s a price I can understand, and one I am (nearly) willing to pay myself. The full collection is available now from End Clothing, check out a brief look at each of the pieces below.

The oxfords are probably the strongest in the collection with the leopard pullover a close 2nd. The pullover is something i could never pull off, but dope never the less. I imagine the retail for this will be at a hefty price.
