Real Tears ‘FYC’ Longsleeve

British brand Real Tears make their return today with a slightly refreshed image, kicking things off with one black longsleeve T-shirt.

The longsleeve seems to be having a bit of a revival these days. Spending my early teens listening to East Coast hardcore and immersed in the scene around it, longsleeved shirts with band names printed down the length of both sleeves were a pretty common sight, but rarely seen outside of that. Real Tears take obvious inspiration from their own background in skateboarding and hardcore with the ‘Fuck Your Crew’ tee, featuring text printed on the chest, arms, and large across the back.

The brand themselves got off to a bit of a shaky start with their debut release, but although there’s not much to go on yet, they seem to be back on track with their latest, and are definitely a brand I’ll be keeping one eye on. The FYC Longsleeve is available from Real Tears now.

Can’t say I’m a massive fan of this, the sleeves look way too wide, but perhaps it looks better on? From a design point of view, neat idea in terms of influence etc, sloppy and basic execution. Also, without a strong brand to back them up, phrases like the featured one here often seem a little hollow. Maybe it’s just me though?

what a pile of cock, we’ll see real tears from whoever’s behind this when they can’t sell a solitary piece

    That name is crap
and the blatent supreme bum-lick of the name down the sleeves is amazing

Im not even going to touch that comment by terrytibbs above, it has to be trolling or the hypebeast crowd has found its way onto TDS.

A good idea, poorly executed in my opinion. I still don’t see the brand’s identity, but the text heavy design relies heavily upon a presumed knowledge of their crew and values. Not quite on the mark, but look forward to seeing more.
