This Saturday sees the release of the first ever collaborative works between Converse and Stüssy, in the form of three pairs of kicks.
Taking two lesser known Converse silhouettes, the Elm and the Sea Star LS and putting a distinctively Stüssy look on them, the trio of shoes take inspiration from military and outdoor footwear. Camo is the running theme throughout the capsule collection, more specifically a forest camo on ripstop, adorning the insole of all of the shoes and making up the upper of one of the pairs of Sea Star LS’s.
There’s quite a mature look to these shoes, but they still manage to retain that casual feel that Converse do well. The hiking inspired Elm’s see a nice Black leather upper with a cream lining, tonal Black D-Ring eyelets and Red hiking laces. Minimal in all the right ways. As for the two pairs of Sea Star LS’s, they both see a nice discrete Moccasin stitch that can often ruin a shoe in my opinion, but it works well here. The mixture of materials on this shoes is something rather unusual, with the ripstop upper and leather laces, but it works so well. This is one of those products that if you listed all the materials and details to me before I saw them, I’d assume they were a disaster, but they’re surprisingly not.
A small Stüssy tab on the side of the Sea Star LS’s is the only outer branding brought to these kicks, keeping a rather modest presence throughout the collection with the collaborative branding on the insole. Expect to see all three hitting End Clothing, in-store and online this Saturday.
