Japanese retailer MITA have joined forces with adidas Originals to put their spin on the iconic Campus 80.
The Campus 80 plays a firm role in adidas’ history when it comes to sneakers. A much loved icon of the sneaker world, this shoe is perfect simplicity. Here we see MITA create two pig skin suede renditions, both featuring contrast leather stripes and heeltab, tonal laces and a “yellowed” outsole. I’m usually one of the first people to complain about the faux-vintage effect that has been sweeping the sneaker world that last year or so, but to be fair, it does really work with these colourways on these kicks.
Burgundy suede has always been an alluring material, with its ability to draw you in, and these are no different. The clean white pops on the stripes and heel tab keep this shoe looking fresh and modern and work nicely in comparison to the yellowed outsole. The black suede version has a really nice vibrant red on the accents, which is calmed down again by the yellowed sole, stopping these from being a bit too hard on the eye.
All-in-all, a very successful collaborative effort. A branded cork insole and leather lining keep you comfortable, adding those final luxurious finishes.
These are very limited, and will be available as of 10am on Friday 25th May from Leed’s Hip Store, as well as other key adidas Originals retailers.
