TDS Mix 024: Arcade

Originating from Argentina and now residing in London, we asked Squelch & Clap regular Arcade to curate mixtape 024.

I first became aware of Arcade and his work through his remix of Kidnap Kid’s ‘Rectitude’ on S&C003, quickly digging around to find any solo releases and coming across his Contrincante EP [S&C002], which plays host to the brilliant ‘Tracking Down’. Not unfamiliar with the art of the remix, Arcade seems to rattle them out, mainly for his Squelch & Clap family mind.

With a style that mixes 90’s rave with 2-Step and modern House (with tints of French Electro creeping in every now and then), Arcade’s tunes are always dance floor friendly, while maintaining musical credibility. As London’s effect seeps into his psyche, Arcade’s sound appears to be slowing down of late and throwing in more of those off-beat hits and rhythms found in Techno and the Techno/House/Bass thing that’s happening here at the moment.

As for this mix itself, Arcade brings an eclectic selection of Garage, House and Bass that makes for a brilliantly uplifting hour of music. This is perfect pre-party (or mid-party) listening. Have a little read of the interview below, but most importantly hit the play button below.

What approach have you taken for this mix?
I’ve tried to cover the whole musical spectrum I’m into at the moment.

Which track or mix is your personal favourite?
Todd Edwards – Echos Of The Past, no doubt! It’s a Summer jam.

What did you do the mix on?
Ableton Live.

Is style/fashion important to you?
It is in a way, but don’t really care much.

What brand(s) are you particularly feeling at the moment?
I don’t have a particular favourite, I’m more concerned with the fit/size/design than particular brand.

What have you got coming up soon?
I’m working on my second EP, some House/Garage-ish ting coming up, so stay tuned!
