Listen: Fantastic Mr Fox – San’en EP [Black Acre]

Fantastic Mr Fox makes his long overdue return with the San’en EP on Black Acre.

Stephen Gomberg, aka Fantastic Mr Fox, is without a doubt the shining star of Black Acre, and most probably one of the finest producers in the UK at the moment. Releases seem to be few and far between for FMF, with his last EP dropping back in 2010. They’re like little hidden gems; rare, but dazzling.

This EP sees FMF bring in the help of a vocalists, by the name of Alby Daniels, who features on three out of four tracks. As with a lot of FMF’s work, the EP is varied, yet holds a very distinct sound that gels the whole thing together as a piece of work. With influences coming from as far afield as House, Techno, UK Funky, Grime and Dubstep, but still managing to maintain that musical element of live Electronica, this is the best work I’ve heard from FMF so far.

Forthcoming on Black Acre, home to the likes of Dark Sky, Blue Daisy, Hyetal, Memotone and Snow Ghosts, the EP drops this Monday in any record store worth it’s weight. You can pre-order the vinyl over at Chemical now.

Check out a couple of tunes from the EP below.
