To celebrate their 20th anniversary, Evisu have teamed up with New York based artist Matzu to create this limited edition box set.
Originally from Japan and now based in New York, Tomokazu Matsuyama aka Matzu has taken his hand to this pair of slim 2010 fit Evisu Jeans. Keeping the creativity in the realm that Evisu are most known for, print, Matzu has covered the jeans in a vibrant yellow polkadot as well as a tonal print featuring Matzu’s re-imagining of the tradition Kirin (the Oriental unicorn). It’s quite a crazy combination, but somehow it works.
Made from selvedge dry denim, these will get better with age. It will be a double edged sword as these jeans start to age; the yellow polkadots will become less obvious as the denim gets lighter, making them more comfortable on the eye, but the Kirin will become more visible, adding a second pattern into the mix.
It’s no surprise that these are a bold statement of a jean, coming from the Evisu camp, but they are a much more tasteful and creative statement than a lot of the product that has been surfacing from the brand of late. The traditional presentation box, wrapping and hand fan are also nice little touches to sweeten the deal.
Unfortunately, the price is quite steep, coming in at a solid £400 a pair. If you fancy getting involved, you can pick the package up at the Evisu Boxpark store or on their online store.
