Le Coq Sportif dig into their archive to find the very French running shoe that is the Eclat and bring it back in three colourways.
Vintage runners are having a damn good time at the moment and I don’t mean running shoes that look like they’ve been put through a wash with a brick and then pissed on, I’m talking about the silhouettes. With this in mind, it’s great to see Le Coq Sportif join in on the action and so damn well. The Eclat is one of their early 1980s runners that stinks of French chav. The plastic D-rings, the suede, plenty of nice nylon mesh and that infamous logo.
Brought back in three colourways, it’s the palette selection that makes these work so well. It would have been very easy to spoil these with poor colour placement, but keeping things near tonal and in three dope main colours, the Eclat looks incredible. The white number couldn’t remind me of holidays to France in the late 90s more. As for the blue and mustard colourways, these are a litte more socially acceptable, but equally as rad.
All three are available now from Crooked Tongues for the very reasonable sum of £65 a pair.
