The Nike Air Max hasn’t received the kind of attention that it’s younger AM1 and older AM90 Air Max siblings have been accustomed to. We saw some reissues back in 2007 that included the original red/grey/black, red, blue and even some new colour-ways making an appearance. Last years OG blue and red Vintage reinterpretations hit the mark and refreshed the Air Max Light legacy. The vintage theme doesn’t continue on this release though, with a reissue of the sail/team red and sail/university gold versions back in there original form.
It’s ‘light’ name tag comes from the construction process of the outsole unit which compared to the Air Max 1, was substantially lighter. The aesthetic is pretty recognisable with it’s blend of classic AM1 and AM90 design elements. The Air Max Light holds its own though, with a late 80s runner feel that is instantly eye catching. This release contains two neck breakers and the colour choices here are perfect for autumn, with both combining really well with the quality suede, leather and nylon mesh used to create a premium feel. Suede materials dominate on both shoes throughout the upper which is great to see on such a classic running shoe, and is accented by the leather swoosh and nylon mesh hits amongst the panel layering. Both shoes are very very strong and with limited numbers available, probably won’t be around too long.
