Dr. Martens and Gloverall are two undisputed heavyweights when it comes to British produced fashion. One producing shoes that have been worn by policemen, postmen and factory workers, whilst also being at the forefront of numerous subcultures in Britains rich cultural history. The latter, the originators of the ‘Duffle’ coat, an instant classic since it’s origins in the 1950’s and a design imitated by many. Everyone at one time in their life has worn a Duffle coat. This collection sees Gloverall applying it’s ‘C-Cloth’ to two classic Dr. Martens silhouettes, alongside a coat.
Firstly, the footwear. Gloverall have given both the 1460 boot and 1461 shoe some treatment coming in two colours; sand and black. Both styles have been given Gloverall’s ‘C-Cloth’ on the uppers, calf leather bindings and back strap, a check lining and a cord lace, finished off with a wooden toggle.
The jacket is a hybrid between a donkey jacket and the classic Gloverall duffle, also coming in both black and sand. It features a polished calf leather shoulder yoke and elbow patches, along with a checkered lining. It’s nice to see the iconic duffle jacket take on this Donkey style hybrid approach.
These are all available now from Dr. Martens own stores as well as select retailers across the UK.
