Last weekend we hopped over to (capsule) Paris to see what we could expect in Autumn/Winter 2013 from some of the finest brands on the market.
Amongst a heaving room of menswear, there were the usual pleasers as well as a few pleasant surprises. Highlights for us had to be the new direction that Royal Elastics have taken (as seen above), Garbstore’s prison themed collection, Percival’s bold outerwear and knitwear and Maharishi’s typically adventurous take on hibernation and Preppers. Dr. Marten’s continue to put out some of the sturdiest smart footwear around, and Wood Wood have also joined the footwear forces, launching their first in-house footwear collection. Norse Projects have impressively stepped into the world of tech-outerwear and although we weren’t allowed to photograph their collection, trust us when we say it is a very pleasant surprise, as well as their new minimal branding.
Two more streetwear brands stood out for us; Parisian brand still Good with their creative use of contrast panelling and materials; and London’s AMH who keep things more traditional but have ventured into Nano technology, creating a water repelling t-shirt range.
All in all, it was a great weekend and a nice opportunity to catch up with some familiar faces from the tradeshow circuit, as well as meeting new ones such as James from Individualized Shirts who very kindly talked us through the history behind every shirt in their collection and more specifically the cotton used. It was more than fascinating!
Until next season (capsule).
