After a long spat of musical silence, James Blake returns with a big budget music video for his new single Retrograde.
Keeping things aptly surreal and ethereal, the video depicts an unmasked female motor cyclist who seemingly bumps into a house where time stands still. The visual imagery is unsurprisingly beautiful and continues down the path of consistently high quality artistry that James Blake is now well known for. It’s a surreal story for the song, but somehow manages to fit the lyrical content in an adbstract way, executed to near perfection by director Martin de Thurah.
The single dropped today on Polydor and moves more into the realms of R&B and Hip-Hop with it’s low slung minimal 808 clap driven beat. You can pick up a copy of the single now from iTunes and expect to see the album Overgrown hit stores on April 8th.
