Today, Nike dropped a serious pack of Air Max sneakers titled the HomeTurf Series; featuring a pack for London, Paris and Milan.
The pack features a whole world of Air Max goodies, including the staple Air Max 1, Air Max 90, Air Max 97, Air Max Classic BW, Air Max 97 2013, Air Max 1 HYP, Air Max 90 HYP and the rather special Air Max 1 2013. It really is a field day of techy Air Max shoes. Split into three packs of four sneakers, the HomeTurf series aims to pay homage to the fashion capitals of Europe, taking inspiration from the cities themselves and putting it into the shoes.
Now, I don’t like to be negative, but if this is a fair representation of London’s taste in colourways, then we need to have a stern word with ourselves because we’re trailing behind Paris and Milan in a big way. Our saving grace in this pack is that we are the only ones to have the Air Max 1 2013 – an awesome hybrid of a Hyperfuse AM1 sat on the 2013 sole. However, even that is tarnished by Nike giving it a Team America colourway. Maybe it’s a case of the grass being greener on the other side, but the tonal selection that Paris have been gifted is a sight to behold, as is the camel/pink AM1 found in the Milan pack (they’ll never love it as much as we will). Maybe this is the whole idea behind this series, to inspire a bit of friendly rivalry for fashion week?
