Raf Simmons announces his eighth collection with Fred Perry, this time focusing on patterns and bright colour palettes to put his twist on some Fred Perry classics.
The Raf Simmons collection for Fred Perry is always interesting, even if it’s not your cup of tea, it’s interesting to see the Fred Perry aesthetic rocketed into the world of high fashion. This season sees Raf move away from the darker palettes he has been playing with over the last few years and go to the other extreme; using a lot of neons. Almost all of the collection focuses on patterns such as oversized houndstooth, florals, animal prints, checks and cable knit, with the odd plain piece thrown in here and there to calm the collection down a touch. On several items Raf has opted to double up the colour, adding another element for him to use in order to add or reduce the visual noise of each piece.
The overall aesthetic of the collection is very British countryside and would look equally as suited at the races as it would on the catwalk. You can just picture that lime green cable knit sweater being tied around the neck and hung over the shoulders. The collection is named ‘Collage’ and is an attempt to allow wearers to mix and match in different ways to create their own take on outfits.
The Raf Simmons x Fred Perry Spring/Summer 2013 collection lands in Fred Perry Laurel Wreath stores and their webstore on February 22nd. There is also an installation to preview the collection available to see at Dover Street Market now.
