Well that’s it then, the wait is finally over. It finally feels like we can get some closure on this, come out of the bedroom and participate in the world again. The elusive ‘Nike Air’ heel branding has been a highly sensitive topic amongst Air Jordan fans and they finally receive their wish with this Air Jordan III retro ’88 release, which makes a come back for 2013 in it’s full original form.
Judging by the images, it looks as if the shoe is not that much different from the 2011 Cement III’s in terms of quality and shape. The big difference is the replacement of the Jumpman logo on the heel with the original Nike Air branding. Although we have become accustomed to the Jumpman branding, it just feels right seeing that classic Nike Air branding back in its place. No doubt folks will be losing it for these and it’s a no brainer as to why. This is the original.
It feels surreal and very exciting to finally see this release become readily available without having to break the bank for a pair on eBay. Our hope, and guess, is that there’s going to be a lot more favourites being rolled out in their true original form over the rest of 2013.
The Air Jordan III ’88 retro has an appropriate release date of 23 March 2013 and will be available from Nike.com, NikeTown London, Stratford and Glasgow, as well as House of Hoops in London. Good luck!
