Nudie Jeans have created this limited edition pair of 13.5 oz Grim Tim selvage jeans made from organic premium Pima cotton.
Pima cotton is a luxurious and saught after cotton, much like the better known Egyptian cotton, and is grown predominantly in Peru, Australia and the southwest United States. The Pima cotton used for this project is from a small organic cotton farm in New Mexico, southwest United States, where is gained it’s name Pima cotton after the group of American Indians who first cultivated the plant in the U.S.. Pima cotton is known for it’s long fibres and it’s these that give the denim a streaky appearance. The cotton is then sent to Japan where it is woven by highly skilled denim artisans on narrow shuttle looms. After the weaving, the denim is sent to Italy where it is cut and sewn and boxed up to present the final product. These jeans have essentially done a world tour, hitting up the three homes of denim before you’ve even tried them on.
These jeans feature silver buttons and rivets, individual numbering on the back leather patch (1 – 480) and a nice presentation box with all the info you could want to repeat to your fellow denim geeks. Weighing in at 13.5 oz these are no light jean, and being dry selvage they will need a good 6 months of punishing to wear them in (and maybe even a sea wash if you’re feeling particularly nerdy).
The Grim Tim Organic Dry Pima Selvage jeans are available exclusively from Nudie Jeans due to their limited nature, either from their webstore or their soon to open concept store in London. Don’t sleep, as sizes are already selling out.
