Raffertie gives away his deeply swelling song ‘Benediction’.
We’re big fans of Raffertie and his work, hence us inviting him to do a TDS Mix back at the start of 2011, and his recent venture into singer/songwriter territories is something we fully support. First showcasing his new approach to his musical career with a performance in Maida Vale, this free download continues along those lines and makes for a really nice piece of listening.
It’s great to watch this talented artist’s career unfold, especially now that he’s singing on his tracks. At times, this song has a similar vibe to the work of Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ John Frusciante when he went solo – more specifically his third album ‘To Record Only Water for Ten Days’, with a very personal solitariness. With a new EP dropping on Ninja Tune May 20th, we’re looking forward to hearing a lot more from Raffertie.
Listen to ‘Benediction’ and download it below thanks to Mixmag.
