South Wales, whilst perhaps not the most obvious of locations, is a bit of a breeding ground for streetwear brands. Esah are one of the newer names, launching almost exactly a year ago, and recently presenting their Spring/Summer collection of tees, vests, pullover hoods and beanies.
Esah have a monochromatic approach to all designs, with only black, white and grey utilised for prints, embroidery and garment bodies. The collection is comprised primarily of basic logo pieces, with different variations on the brand’s script logo appearing on most pieces. Where the artwork gets a little more detailed though, the results are strong – the circular badge design and previously released knotted pyramid graphic standing out as highlights. The brand also play with the ‘Dirty South’ tagline, a nod to their South Wales heritage.
Esah is an acronym of ‘Exploration Starts At Home’, a motto which summarises the brand’s influences of understanding the people and places around you and a collection inspired by Britain’s multi-cultural society. Alongside their mainline collection, the brand also regularly produce bespoke pieces with high-fashion flair and a focus on quality.
ThreadsTV recently spent some time with brand, and their interview with owner Imtayaz Qassim provides the opportunity to learn more about why they do what they do. The Spring/Summer collection is available from Esah Clothing now.
