adidas Consortium Superstar ’80s “Back In The Day” pack

Superstar ’80s are pretty much the epitome of New York City youth and counter-culture of the 1980s and this pack is a homage to those dynamic and progressive times.

First released back in 1969, the Superstar was endorsed by basketball players but it was the shoe’s success beyond the hardwood that really turned the Superstar in to the iconic design it is today. During a time when graffiti was establishing itself in New York City the Superstar was the shoe of choice for many writers and also a firm favourite in the hip-hop realm.

This “Back In The Day” pack pays tribute to the pioneers responsible for the rich culture that came out of New York City during the ’80s. It’s a pretty simple and effective affair here, with use of snake skin accents on each colour-way (with adidas being one of the first brands to introduce animal patterns to sports footwear) providing a premium finish to the full leather uppers. Each shoe comes with an extra set of fat laces for an instant ’80s look and if you want to go one further you can wear them with no laces as there are elastic straps inside to hold the foot in place. A final nod to the graffiti innovators of those times comes in the form of subtle spray detailing found across the uppers and on the insoles.

Available this coming Saturday 8 June at End and Footpatrol.
